Monologue (2023) | 4min55s
Monologue is a very, very personal documentary about my dance journey in London 2022. From hopping between studios to practicing on rooftops, I was constantly switching roles: between an uncertain newcomer and a street-style dancer trying to appear cool and fearless.
Monologue is built around questions I once couldn’t answer: ‘Why keep dancing when it won’t become my career?’ ‘How do I dance like myself?’ ‘What’s unique about my movement, and me?’ I didn’t have the answers then, but filming helped me start looking for them.
It was my second film, shot with friends, laughter, and the occasional chaos - including a warning letter from the neighbourhood for hanging clothes outside the window mid-shoot. What began as a school project ended up being something far more personal - a quiet time capsule I revisit every year, and somehow, it still teaches me something new each time.
